Quinta das Brôlhas

Quinta das Brôlhas is comprised of two estates with the same name, one on the right bank of the river Douro, near Régua, the other on the left bank, in Valdigem, where the 17th century manor house and the adega (cellar) with granite wine presses are located.

The Adega is built in the region’s architectural style, with granite presses, chestnut wood barrels and modern stainless steel vats. Part of the production is destined for Fortified Wine (Port Wine) and the remainder is used for Red and White table wines. The vines are grafted with the best grape varieties of the region.

The terrains of these properties are of schist, small to medium slopes, exposed to the South and the South-west. Red wines are made from the Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão and Sousão grapes, while the whites come from Malvasia Fina, and Gouveio Viosinho. These varieties were introduced with the restructuring of vineyards, followed by the modernisation of the Adega.
