Diogo Cão House

The house known as Diogo Cão would have been built in the second half of the 15^th century, since this was the birthplace of the famous Trás-os-Montes explorer who, in 1482, discovered the mouth of the Zaire River. It has a layout that fits with the architecture built in the town in the second half of the 15^th century and first half of the 16^th century. The present building is quite altered from its original design, not only by the 16^th and 17^th century works that were aimed at the ennoblement of the house, but also by the restoration works made in the 20^th century, which changed much of the existing structure.
