 The so-called New Chapel, or Clérigos Chapel, is in the Baroque style, and construction was begun in February 1639.
 
Located on the axis that defines the two main arteries of Vila Real, the chapel imposes itself on the urban landscape, not only for its special location and sitting, but particularly for its lavishly decorated façade of dynamic rhythms. This solid architecture is attributed to Nicolau Nasoni, although it is not sure that he was the architect. Only by comparison with his other work, particularly the Mateus Palace, can one venture to say that it is his.
