Vila Real Theatre

The many attributes of the Vila Real Theatre enable it to present public performances of great breadth and quality, that are highly innovative in the region’s cultural scene. 

The complex comprises the Grand Auditorium (capacity 500 seats), the Small Auditorium (150 seats), the Outdoor Auditorium (700 seats), the Foyer, the Exhibition Room, the Multipurpose Room, the Gallery Bar, the Café-Concerto, the Theatre Library, bars, terraces, extensive gardens (adjoining Corgo Park) and two car parks. 

 

The activities of the Vila Real Theatre are based on a strategy of dialogue with the National Theatre Network and with Portugal’s main actors and producers. Besides its own very broad programme in the fields of theatre, music, dance, new circus arts and exhibitions, it also focuses on the co-production of shows with other regional, national and international organisations.

 

The highlights of the programme are at weekends, when Vila Real Theatre opens its doors every day for a wide variety of activities. From exhibitions to theatre, from music to dance, from the Education Department’s activities to the Café-Concerto (with performances from Monday to Thursday), every day provides good reasons to enjoy this excellent meeting point that is already part of the daily lives of the local people.
