São Leonardo de Galafura Panoramic Viewpoint

It’s considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the whole region. It was from here that the poet Miguel Torga would "plunge into" the river and penetrate the magnanimous landscape of such a "sublimated Douro", which he called "nature’s excess" in one of his "Diários". A rock shows an excerpt from the work of who is considered one of the greatest Portuguese writers from the last century, in which the Douro is an on-going presence. This place has originated many legends and stories that add up to the charm of these parts, which stand for one of the most beautiful locations in the municipality and a compulsory stopover for those visiting the Douro.
