Quinta da Pacheca

Quinta da Pacheca, one of the most prestigious estates in the Douro, is known for having been one of the first to bottle its own brand wines. The first mention of the Quinta, called “of the Pacheca”, after its owner, Mariana Pacheco Pereira, appears in a document dated 17 April 1738. However, it was only in 1903 that José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to indulge his growing interest in winemaking, buying the property to embark on wine production. Today, a century on, the new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family manages the Quinta: Maria, Catarina and José are the young faces of this family-run company.
