Presentation
We’re faced with a truly exceptional landscape. It’s a greatly varied view, which takes in practically all the elements found in other viewpoints: villages (in enclosed valleys, on the slopes, on the ridges and on the plateaus), vineyards in every style of planting (pre- and post-phylloxera terraces, wide modern terraces and “vinha ao alto” – vines planted in vertical rows), the Douro and its valley, as well as Varosa, the Marão and Alvão mountain ranges, the Mount of S. Domingos, chestnut groves, pine groves, olive groves, and so on.
Beyond this diversity, we can also see great distances, and it is possible to easily identify Vila Real and the Alvão mountains. A curious fact is that two of the most famous Douro viewpoints can be seen: S. Domingos (Armamar) and S. Leonardo (Peso da Régua) are perfectly recognisable.
